Good
day and welcome to my blog. Today I will be talking about how to upload
Wordpress to your web server using FTP/file manager. Last post I talked about how to
download wordpress, if you miss the post you can click HERE
to read.
Today’s
post will be quick and straight forward.
Steps
to follow:
Login
to your web server cpanel area: you can log in to your web server c-panel area
easily by typing www.domainname.com/cpanel
from your browser and press enter on your keyboard. The page will redirect to a
c-panel log in page were you will be ask to provide your username and password.
After
typing a correct username and password, you will now be loged in to your cpanel
area like in the picture below
Locate file manager icon under the tab named files. Click on it and choose home directory from the dialogue box popup.click on go
After clicking on the go button, you will be taken to a new tab on your browser were you will have access to the content on your web server
1. Click on public_html on the list at your left side as shown in the picture below.
2. Click on upload to upload your wordpress file
You will be taken to another window were you will be able to choose the wordpress zip file. Once you choose the file, uploading should start automatically (this should not take more than 10secs-30secs depending on your internet speed). after uploading successfully go back to your file manager. (you can refresh)
The file uploaded into public_html is in .zip format and need to be unzip. Right click on the file and click Extract. choose the current directory to save the extracted file.
A new file in folder format will be added. Double click to open the folder, highlight all the file inside, cut and past into public_html directory.
You can delete the old folder and the zip file if you want.
Congratulation, you have successfully uploaded your wordpress file into your web-server.
